Mission
The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition grows and develops Oklahoma's visual arts community through education, promotion, connection, and funding.
-
Community Arts Development and Advocacy Encouraging greater public appreciation and participation in the visual arts, OVAC produces Art Focus magazine, the Tulsa Art Studio Tour, exhibitions such as MOMENTUM, www.ovac.org, and a monthly newsletter. In FY23, Art Focus highlighted the work of 74 artists, 14 contributing writers, editors, and a graphic designer in four quarterly issues, reaching a readership of more than 12k both in print and online. The Tulsa Art Studio Tour showcased 15 artists and hosted 200 visitors in a self-guided, educational tour. The two-day MOMENTUM exhibition showcased the talent of 41 artists ages 30 and under from across Oklahoma, connecting them to an audience of nearly 750 visitors. OVAC's website and newsletters connect nearly 20,000 practicing artists and arts audiences to resources and visual arts news, events, and opportunities across the state.
Expenses $178,072 · Revenue $69,130
-
Economic Investment OVAC provides vital financial resources to artists that support business growth and the expansion of their creative practices, thereby contributing to the state's cultural and economic prosperity. In FY23, the Grants for Artists program awarded $16K in funding to 27 artists to purchase equipment, pursue continuing education, or create new projects. Through a partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Thrive Grants program awarded $60K to 202 artists to conduct large-scale collaborative community arts projects that are open and accessible to the public. Artists also earn income through awards, honoraria, and sales commissions by participating in OVAC's diverse programming.
Expenses $168,091 · Grants $82,900
-
Artist Professional Development OVAC equips over 1,500 artists annually with free skill-building and educational opportunities to advance their careers and reach new audiences. The Artist Survival Kit (ASK) program presents Workshops, Office Hours, and Panel Discussions on topics such as marketing, preparing artwork for exhibitions, and legal compliance. Art Crit Night is a free public event featuring local artists who present their work during a curator-led discussion. Photo Studio provides artists with professional images of their artwork to build their portfolio or enhance their online presence at an affordable cost.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
