Mission and programs · 2025

Mission

Rise Up Industries mission is to minimize gang involvement by providing integrated gang prevention, gang intervention, and post-detention reentry services. Of these three program areas, Rise Up Industries currently operates its gang prevention program, Rise Up Leadership Academy (RULA), and its post-detention reentry program.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Rise Up Leadership Academy (RULA) is the prevention component and second prong of Rise Up Industries three-pronged strategy to minimize gang involvement through prevention, intervention, and post-detention reentry services. RULA protects at-risk youth from gang recruitment, which can begin as early as age 12, by providing a safe and supportive environment where students engage in academic support, sports and recreation, social-emotional development, and enrichment activities. RULA was launched in August 2024 with its first cohort of 5th-grade students in partnership with Rosa Parks Elementary School and the City Heights Recreation Center. A second cohort was enrolled during the summer of 2025, expanding the programs reach and impact. Through these activities, RULA helps youth recognize their self-worth, develop resilience, and pursue their full potential.

  • Machine Shop Social Enterprise (MSSE) MSSE provides program members with hands-on training and real-world work experience through contract projects in a Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship program, preparing participants for careers as CNC machine operators. Member Services Reentry program members receive comprehensive wraparound support throughout the 18-month program, including case management, counseling, mentoring, recovery and relapse prevention services, tattoo removal, financial literacy training, CNC classroom instruction, and employment readiness support such as resume writing, mock interviews, and job search assistance.

    Expenses $2,067,573

  • The mission of RULA's Prevention Program is to protect at-risk youth from being recruited into gangs-an issue that can begin as early as age 12. Launched in 2024 with its first cohort of 5th graders, the program offers a safe and supportive environment where students can engage in sports, entertainment, tutoring, and social skill development. Through these activities, RULA empowers youth to recognize their self-worth and strive toward their full potential.

    Expenses $498,988

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
