  • THE GOAL OF OUR PARENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM IS TO MEANINGFULLY ENGAGE, EMPOWER, AND DEVELOP LEADERSHIP AMONG OUR GROWING LATINX COMMUNITY. PARTICIPANTS LEARN LIFE SKILLS, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, TOOLS TO INTEGRATE INTO THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY, AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS. THEY ALSO LEARN TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE EDUCATION SYSTEM WORKS IN THE UNITED STATES, EXPERIENCE HANDS-ON COMMUNITY RESOURCES, AND NEW PARENTS RECEIVE EDUCATION SUPPORT THROUGH VARIOUS COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. PARENTS COME FROM A VARIETY OF COUNTRIES AND OFTEN FIND IT DIFFICULT TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION DUE TO LANGUAGE BARRIERS OR LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM. THROUGH STRUCTURED ACTIVITIES, PARENTS LEARN ABOUT AND LINK UP WITH THE RESOURCES OFFERED IN THEIR CHILDREN'S SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
