Mission

The Center for Environmental Accountability (CEA) is a not-for-profit organization that educates Americans on the importance of transparency and accountability in environmental and energy policy. CEA's work is informed by its core principles, including a commitment to the rule of law, to a clean environment, and to a healthy human environment founded on a strong economy and vibrant communities in which people from all walks of life can flourish.

Activities or mission (Part I)

The Center for Environmental Accountability (CEA) significant activities include the following. Research: CEA conducts rigorous analysis of federal agency regulatory proposals touching on energy and the environment to assess their efficacy, trade offs, lawfulness, transparency, and political accountability. Public Education: CEA educates the public, other not-for-profit organizations, and policy makers on the operation and likely impacts of complex energy and environmental regulations on diverse stakeholders and societal values, and highlights for these audiences when and how agencies attempt to regulate beyond their lawful authority or stifle more popularly accountable policy making.

  • The Organization filed six public comments with government regulatory agenices and held several informational meetings to educate other nonprofit organizations about regulatory issues in the energy environment space.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
