-
IN 2022 HYPE has served and reached people through programs that have empowered them to become leaders in their community, advocate for themselves and others, and lead healthy and authentic lives. Support Healthy Behaviors?HYPE links people living with HIV/AIDS to services and knowledge that support them in making healthy choices. This includes direct education about risk reduction, treatment, interpersonal relationships, and general health and nutrition. It also includes connecting people served to long-term treatment and case management, social services, and supportive medical providers. Mitigate Economic Barriers? In addition to education about HIV/AIDS, HYPE provides individual job skills and other transitional knowledge to support their professional goals. This includes leadership skills, project management, and 21st-Century technical skills. Build Resiliency and Community?HYPE offers a mental health program that incorporates peer, family, and group counseling, facilitated by professionals trained in trauma, HIV/AIDS issues, and culturally-informed care. The HYPE community is also a network of peers and trusted providers that provide support, encouragement, and camaraderie for those served. Advocate for Change?HYPE equips those served to recognize and respond to HIV/AIDS-related discrimination, stigma, and exclusion in housing, employment, health, social networks, and family. This reduces systemic barriers to economic, physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Collaborate Across Sectors?HYPE supports collaborative relationships that create an inclusive, responsive, and effective support network for people living with HIV/AIDS across local, state, regional, and national resources. The organization also provides technical assistance and cultural competency training to others serving people with HIV/AIDS and communities facing higher risk for HIV.
