Mission

Family Legacy's integrated model of care seeks to equip orphaned and vulnerable children in Zambia with the resources and Christian education necessary to achieve their God-given potential in this world.

Activities or mission (Part I)

To glorify God by transforming the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children of Zambia through Christian education and the provision of other essential services.

  • Family Legacy Missions International (FLMI) advances its mission in Zambia by providing funding and operational support to Family Legacy Missions Zambia (FLMZ), which owns and operates 20 Christian Legacy Academies in Lusaka, Zambia. Staffed by more than 400 educators, the Legacy Academies serve students from 17 surrounding communities. FLMZ also partners with government schools in nearby areas to extend educational opportunities. The Legacy Academies emphasize academic excellence, spiritual growth, and safe, clean learning environments while offering students daily meals and regular medical care. In 2024, Family Legacy, together with sponsors and donors, supported 11,000 children who participated in its educational programs.

    Expenses $8,856,746 · Grants $6,119,301

  • The Tree of Life Children's Village is a 130-acre residential community located outside Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. It serves as a transitional, full-time home for vulnerable children who have experienced unsafe living conditions or serious illness. The village provides housing, education, healthcare, and counseling within a supportive environment to prepare children for safe reintegration into their communities. Facilities include residential homes, a school, on-site medical services, and a working farm that supports both nutrition and vocational learning. In 2024, Family Legacy, together with sponsors and donors, supported more than 400 children residing at the Tree of Life Village.

    Expenses $2,282,068 · Grants $1,689,736

  • Family Legacy's Short-term Missions program (STME) is a cornerstone of Family Legacy's mission to bring hope and transformation to Zambia's most vulnerable children. Each year, hundreds of ambassadors-volunteers primarily from the United States-travel to Zambia to care for the children, build relationships through play, and share the message of Jesus. For most of these children, the annual Camp Life program marks the beginning of their journey with Family Legacy.

    Expenses $2,041,709 · Grants $192,103 · Revenue $6,262

  • For those ready for the next step after high school graduation, Family Legacy sponsors and young adult students can continue their journey together through job training and higher education. Students enter programs ranging from 1-4 years to receive additional education and/or professional training before they enter the workforce. In 2024, 700 young adults participated in Family Legacy's Excel Beyond program.

    Expenses $1,598,953 · Grants $1,285,628

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
