Mission and programs · 2024

Mission

Provide fire prevention/protection to Anderson Co. & in particular, the area within a 6 mile radius of the fire station, render fire prevention or protection or other humanitarian service when federal, state, municipal, local, or Anderson Co Volunteer Fire Department requests.

  • For the year 2024 the Fire Department responded to 293 calls, including motor vehicle accidents, fires, brush, wildfires in the County, EMS, smoke detector activation and other emergencies. The Department also answered mutual aid calls. The service area covered is about 60 square miles. All of the purpose achievements were conducted by 100% volunteers who are on call and respond when dispatch calls them.

    Expenses $127,357

  • One other particular program that the Fire Department conducted at the request of the Tennessee State Fire Marshalls office is that it provided and installed smoke detectors in 2024 in homes that requested them. The smoke detectors are provided free of charge to the Fire Department and the Fire Department installs and instructs the residents on the use of the detectors. The Fire Department does not charge anyone for this service. The Fire Department also does not incur any expenses in conducting this program, as the state of Tennessee freely provides the detectors and the volunteer firefighters provide the service for free.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
