Mission

RACHEL'S NETWORK PROMOTES WOMEN AS AGENTS OF CHANGE DEDICATED TO THE STEWARDSHIP OF THE EARTH. NETWORK PROGRAMS CULTIVATE LEADERSHIP, INSTILL PHILANTHROPIC ACUITY, AND DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING OF CRITICAL ISSUES.

  • NETWORKING, EDUCATION, AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS: IN 2025, WE HELD EDUCATIONAL AND CONVERSATIONAL WEBINARS AND BOOK CLUBS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR OUR NETWORK OF WOMEN FUNDERS AND CATALYST COMMUNITY ON A VARIETY OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHILANTHROPIC ISSUES. WE HELD FIVE-DAY IN-PERSON EVENT IN NEW ORLEANS, LA TO HEAR FROM LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS AND ANOTHER IN-PERSON EVENT, HOSTING A FOUR-DAY FUNDERS RETREAT IN WHITEFISH, MT, LEARNING FROM WOMEN ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS WHO ARE PROTECTING AND STEWARDING THE LAND, AS WELL FROM INDIGENOUS LEADERS. ADDITIONALLY, WE OFFERED REGIONAL EVENTS, MULTIPLE IN-OFFICE EVENTS, AND WEBINARS HIGHLIGHTING VARIOUS PHILANTHROPIC ISSUES. IN ALL THESE FORUMS, BOTH FUNDER AND CATALYST MEMBERS LEARNED FROM EACH OTHER AND EXPERTS ABOUT INTERRELATED CHALLENGES TO THE ENVIRONMENT, HUMAN HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE, AND COMMUNITY WELL-BEING, AS WELL AS THE ROLE THAT WOMEN LEADERS AND PHILANTHROPISTS PLAY IN AMENDING PAST AND PRESENT HARM AND WORK TOWARDS BUILDING A MORE SUSTAINABLE AND LIVABLE FUTURE. BEYOND THEIR EDUCATION VALUE, THESE EVENTS PROVIDED MEMBERS A SENSE OF COMMUNITY.

    Expenses $920,358 · Grants $1,000 · Revenue $184,898

  • GRANTMAKING PROGRAMS: OUR SIGNATURE PROGRAM, THE CATALYST PROGRAM, CELEBRATES WOMEN OF COLOR WHO ARE BUILDING A HEALTHIER, SAFER, AND MORE JUST WORLD BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL, LEADERSHIP, AND NETWORKING SUPPORT. THE PROGRAM AIMS TO HELP ADDRESS RACIAL INEQUALITY IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL FUNDING SPACE. IN 2025, WE RECOGNIZED SIX AWARDEES AND SIX FINALISTS WHO ARE ADVOCATING AGAINST THE CRISIS OF LEAD EXPOSURE AND ENVIRONMENTAL INJUSTICE IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES, WORKING FOR RIVER RESTORATION, WATER SECURITY, AIR QUALITY, CLIMATE RESILIENCE, FOOD JUSTICE, AND INDIGENOUS RIGHTS, AMONG OTHER TOPICS. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING AN ANNUAL $15,000 STIPEND TO THE AWARDEES AND A $10,000 ORGANIZATIONAL (IF APPLICABLE) GRANT TO THEIR AFFILIATED ORGANIZATION, WE FOSTER THEIR SENSE OF COMMUNITY THROUGH A LISTSERV AND DISCUSSION GROUPS TO PROVIDE A COMMUNITY OF ADVICE AND SUPPORT. ADDITIONALLY, IF AWARDEES CHOOSE TO UTILIZE A PORTION OF THEIR GRANT TOWARDS LEADERSHIP SERVICES, WE OFFER TO HELP FACILITATE THROUGH ONE OF OUR VENDORS. IN 2025, RACHEL'S NETWORK LAUNCHED A NEW PROGRAM: THE LEGACY AWARD. THIS PROGRAM WAS INITIATED TO SUPPORT WOMEN LEADERS OF COLOR WITH LONG EXPERIENCE IN AND DEEP DEDICATION TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT. THE INAUGURAL LEGACY AWARDEES PARTICIPATED IN A WEEK-LONG RETREAT IN DAKAR, SENEGAL, WHERE THEY MET WITH SOCIAL JUSTICE LEADERS, CONNECTED WITH EACH OTHER, AND HAD SPACE FOR REFLECTION, LEARNING, AND REST. OUR FUNDER MEMBERS WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE CATALYST PROGRAM ARE FUNDING MORE BIPOC-LED ORGANIZATIONS THAN THEY DID BEFORE PARTICIPATING.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
