Activities or mission (Part I)

THE ASSOCIATION OF MILITARY BANKS OF AMERICA (AMBA) IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT TRADE ASSOCIATION THAT REPRESENTS FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS SPECIALIZING IN PROVIDING WORLDWIDE BANKING SERVICES FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL, VETERANS, AND THEIR FAMILIES. AMBA, THROUGH ITS MEMBERS AND WITH ITS PARTNERS, IS COMMITTED TO IMPROVING THE FINANCIAL READINESS OF THE U.S. MILITARY AND VETERAN COMMUNITIES BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL PRODUCTS, SERVICES, AND EDUCATION.

  • IN 2022, AMBA CONTINUED ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE VETERANS BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS, IN THE VETERANS BENEFITS BANKING PROGRAM (VBBP). VBBP IS A PROGRAM, STARTED IN 2019, DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE UNBANKED AND UNDERBANKED VETERANS TO OPEN BANK OR CREDIT UNION CHECKING ACCOUNTS INTO WHICH THEIR VA MONETARY BENEFITS CAN BE DEPOSITED AND MANAGED. THE PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO HELP VETERANS AVOID THE LACK OF SAFETY, RELIABILITY, AND FLEXIBILITY INHERENT IN THE ONLY OTHER WAYS THEY CAN RECEIVE THEIR GOVERNMENT BENEFITS: PREPAID DEBIT CARDS AND PAPER CHECKS. VBBP 2.0, WHICH ADDED FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND FINANCIAL AND CREDIT COUNSELING, WAS SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED IN 2022. AS OF THE END OF 2022, VBBP IS CREDITED WITH "BANKING" OVER 200,000 VETERANS.

  • AMBA'S SOCIAL MEDIA AND DIRECT MARKETING COMMUNICATION EFFORTS CONTINUED TO ASSIST ITS MEMBERS AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION PARTNERS TO EXPAND FINANCIAL EDUCATION FOR THE MILITARY AND VETERAN COMMUNITIES THROUGH NEWSLETTERS, WEBINARS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS. IN 2022, AMBA CONTINUED TO MARKET THE UPDATED HARDCOPY OF ARMED FORCES FINANCIAL GUIDE AND ENCOURAGED MEMBERS TO SUBSCRIBE TO ITS ONLINE VERSION, WHICH CAN BE ACCESSED BY BANK CUSTOMERS.

  • AMBA HELD ITS FIRST IN-PERSON ANNUAL WORKSHOP SINCE THE PANDEMIC, WHICH WAS A RESOUNDING SUCCESS. THIS PROGRAM BROUGHT TOGETHER THE ENTIRE MILITARY AND VETERAN FINANCIAL WELLNESS PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP FOR DISCUSSIONS ABOUT HOW WE MIGHT COLLABORATE BETTER.

As filed on the 2022 return.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
