Mission
THE FORWARD FOUNDATION WAS FOUNDED TO INCREASE THE PARTICIPATION OF WORKING-AGE PEOPLE IN THEIR GRANITE STATE COMMUNITIES THROUGH PUBLIC POLICY RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND LEADERSHIP GROWTH. WORKING-AGE PEOPLE ARE VASTLY UNDERREPRESENTED AS LEADERS IN LOCAL ELECTED OFFICE, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, AND STATE GOVERNMENT IN NEW HAMPSHIRE. THE FORWARD FOUNDATION SEEKS TO EMPOWER THIS POPULATION IN THEIR COMMUNITIES BY IDENTIFYING, EDUCATING, AND SUPPORTING THEM SO THEY WILL GROW AS LEADERS AND PARTICIPATE MORE FULLY IN OUR DEMOCRACY.
-
IN 2022, THE FORWARD FOUNDATION RAN A DIGITAL EDUCATION PROGRAM IN COMMUNITIES WITH THE HIGHEST DENSITY OF SAME-DAY VOTER REGISTRATION, INCLUDING AROUND NINE COLLEGE CAMPUSES, TO ENSURE THIS COMMUNITY UNDERSTANDS THEIR CONSTITUTIONALLY-PROTECTED RIGHT TO VOTE. THE FORWARD FOUNDATION'S DIGITAL VOTER EDUCATION PROGRAM SAW STRONGER-THAN-ANTICIPATED RESULTS, SHOWING THAT THE TARGETED COMMUNITIES (THOSE WITH THE HIGHEST DENSITY OF SAME-DAY VOTER REGISTRATION) WERE INTERESTED AND ENGAGED IN LEARNING ABOUT HOW TO REGISTER AND VOTE ON ELECTION DAY. THE PROGRAM BROUGHT HIGH-QUALITY SAME-DAY VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION TO NINE KEY CAMPUS COMMUNITIES, INCLUDING UNH, KEENE STATE, PLYMOUTH STATE, DARTMOUTH, NHTI CONCORD, MANCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE, NASHUA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, GREAT BAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THIS PROGRAM MADE 1,682,996 IMPRESSIONS AND LED 3,590 FOLKS TO OUR WEBSITE TO FIND MORE INFORMATION.

RECRUITMENT OF APPOINTED POSITIONS THAT PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY: THE FORWARD FOUNDATION RAN A COMPREHENSIVE CAMPAIGN TO IDENTIFY, EDUCATE, AND ACTIVATE WORKING-AGE ADULTS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE TO SIGN UP TO SERVE AS VOLUNTEER POLL WORKERS FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE'S GENERAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 8, 2022. THROUGH COMMUNITY OUTREACH, PAID DIGITAL ADVERTISING, TRAINING WEBINARS, AND RELATIONAL ORGANIZING, THE FORWARD FOUNDATION IDENTIFIED 301 POTENTIAL POLL WORKERS ACROSS NEW HAMPSHIRE. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT AT LEAST 23 OF THESE FOLKS SERVED AS POLL WORKERS ON ELECTION DAY.

ISSUE-BASED EDUCATION FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS: NEW HAMPSHIRE'S ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE TASKED WITH MAKING DECISIONS ON A VARIETY OF ISSUES, BUT UNFORTUNATELY A LEGISLATOR CANNOT BE AN EXPERT IN EACH OF THESE ISSUES. THAT IS WHY THE FORWARD FOUNDATION ENGAGES IN A GOVERNANCE PROGRAM, TO MAKE SURE ELECTED OFFICIALS IN TOWNS, CITIES, AND IN THE STATE HOUSE ARE EDUCATED ON ISSUES THAT MATTER MOST TO WORKING-AGE INDIVIDUALS. IN 2022 WE BEGAN THIS PROGRAM BY HOSTING TRAININGS ABOUT HOUSING FOR LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS AND WERE ABLE TO GET OVER 30 TRAINED IN HOW AFFORDABLE HOUSING INTERACTS WITH THE PUBLIC GOOD. SINCE 2022, WE HAVE BEN ABLE TO TRAIN OVER 70 MORE FOLKS ON MANY MORE ISSUES - HOWEVER, THE FIRST FOLKS WE TRAINED ON HOUSING ARE CONTINUALLY COMING BACK TO INTERACT WITH OUR ORGANIZATION, ATTEND MORE TRAININGS, AND HELP WITH OUR OTHER PROGRAMS.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
