Mission and programs · 2024

Mission

STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY THROUGH FAMILY SERVICES, ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. OUR VISION IS: ONE SONOMA VALLEY COMMUNITY WORKING TOGETHER WHERE ALL HAVE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TO SUCCEED.

Activities or mission (Part I)

TO SUPPORT THE MOST VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN SONOMA VALLEY IN ATTAINING THEIR DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE, SKILL BUILDING, AND RESOURCES.

  • La Luz Center is a family resource center that has served Sonoma Valleys most vulnerable families for more than 40 years. It was founded by volunteers who wanted to establish a safe place for new immigrants to receive support. In the early years, La Luz offered emergency support, housing assistance, and referrals for farm workers. Today, the focus is on the promotion of economic self-sufficiency and long-term stability among our community members. The programming centers around three service types: (1) connections and support, helping clients access and navigate resources they need by way of information and referrals; (2) learning, in which the clients gain the skills and knowledge they need to success in life; and (3) engagement by helping individuals and families connect with each other, our community, and local schools through community/arts events, leadership/civic engagement, and school-based services. La Luz is the go to place for local families seeking assistance in managing and improving their lives and, as a result, La Luz is a trusted provider of community based services. La Luz provided nearly 6,000 services to more than 2,000 unique individuals in 2024.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
