Activities or mission (Part I)
INCREASE SURVIVAL RATES OF SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST IN YOUTH THROUGH HEART SCREENING, CPR/AED EDUCATION AND TRAINING, AED DONATIONS, SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST EDUCATION AND SCHOLARSHIPS.
-
HEART SCREENINGS FOR YOUTH: WE PARTNER WITH REGIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS TO PROVIDE FREE ELECTROCARDIOGRAMS (EKGS) AND HEART SCREENINGS FOR YOUTH AGES 1022. IN 2024, WE HOSTED FIVE HEART SCREENING EVENTS AND SCREENED NEARLY 700 YOUNG HEARTS TO HELP DETECT HIDDEN HEART CONDITIONS BEFORE THEY BECOME LIFE-THREATENING. CARDIAC SAFETY RESEARCH CONSORTIUM: WE ARE PROUD MEMBERS OF THE CARDIAC SAFETY RESEARCH CONSORTIUM, MANAGED BY DUKE UNIVERSITY AND FUNDED BY THE FDA. THIS NATIONAL DATA-SHARING INITIATIVE IS FOCUSED ON ADVANCING RESEARCH THAT COULD ONE DAY CHANGE THE STANDARD OF CARDIAC CARE FOR YOUTH. AED DISTRIBUTION IN CENTRAL PA: THROUGH THE END OF 2024, WE HAVE DONATED NEARLY 350 AEDS (AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS) TO THE CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA COMMUNITY. OUR PROGRAMS PROVIDE BOTH FREE AND LOW-COST AEDS, WITH A STRONG EMPHASIS ON EQUIPPING YOUTH-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING SCHOOLS, SPORTS TEAMS, AND NONPROFITS. WE ADDED A SAVE STATION TO CITY ISLAND, HARRISBURG, GIVING 24/7 ACCESS TO AN AED FOR THE MILLIONS OF VISITORS TO CITY ISLAND EVERY YEAR. 4 MINUTE COMMUNITY INITIATIVE: WE ARE ONE OF ONLY THREE LOCATIONS IN THE U.S. TO IMPLEMENT THE INNOVATIVE 4 MINUTE CITY PROGRAM, WHICH EMPOWERS COMMUNITY MEMBERS WITH TRAINING AND AEDS TO BRIDGE THE CRITICAL GAP BETWEEN A CARDIAC ARREST AND EMS ARRIVAL. IN JULY 2024, WE CELEBRATED THE FIRST DOCUMENTED SAVE IN THE COUNTY AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS INITIATIVE. CPR & AED EDUCATION: WE ARE COMMITTED TO BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF LIFESAVERS BY OFFERING CPR/AED CERTIFICATION CLASSES, LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS AT PUBLIC EVENTS, AND LUNCH-AND-LEARN TRAINING SESSIONS. OUR COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION EFFORTS REACHED THOUSANDS OF INDIVIDUALS IN 2024, EQUIPPING THEM WITH THE SKILLS NEEDED TO RESPOND EFFECTIVELY IN A CARDIAC EMERGENCY. HUDDLE FOR HEARTS: THROUGH OUR HUDDLE FOR HEARTS INITIATIVE, WE DONATE AEDS TO UNDERSERVED YOUTH AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE REGION. IN 2024, THE PROGRAM GAINED MOMENTUM WITH THE SUPPORT OF NEW DONORS, STUDENT-ATHLETES, AND ATHLETIC TEAMS WHO JOINED OUR MISSION TO MAKE CARDIAC SAFETY MORE ACCESSIBLE. STUDENT-ATHLETE AMBASSADORS: A KEY PART OF OUR OUTREACH INVOLVES PARTNERING WITH STUDENT-ATHLETES WHO USE THEIR PLATFORMS TO PROMOTE SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST (SCA) AWARENESS AND ADVOCATE FOR CPR AND AED READINESS. THESE AMBASSADORS HELP US AMPLIFY OUR MESSAGE IN SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE REGION. COMMUNITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS: WE CONDUCT ONGOING AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA, COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS. THESE EFFORTS ARE DESIGNED TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE RISKS OF SCA AND THE IMPORTANCE OF AED ACCESS AND CARDIAC PREPAREDNESS.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
