The Low-cost Spay/Neuter program provided financial assistance to over 228 dog owners and 356 cat owners in our communities to have their pets spayed or neutered. New River Humane Society is dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted and unplanned litters. Pet owners complete an application and make a donation in order to receive a voucher, which can be used at one of three local veterinarians in our area. This program is possible due to donations and grants. We also work to reduce the feral cat population in our community by partnering with Fayette Veterinary Hospital in a feral cat sterilization program. The vet also offers special weeks during the winter when they accept feral cats from the community to be spayed or neutered under a cat colony sterilization program. With both the feral cat sterilization and the cat colony sterilization programs, the vet tips/notches the cats ears and then they are released back in the community where they were found no longer able to reproduce.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
