The MATE II World ROV (remotely operated vehicle or underwater robot) competition challenges students to learn and creatively apply STEM skills to solve real-world problems and strengthen their critical thinking, collaboration, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Each spring, more than 6,000 students in grades 4-16 participate in one of 46 regional events around the world(www.materovcompetition.org) and feed into the World Championship which was held in June 2023. The organization also conducts summer camps and teacher workshops to provide training for competition participants. The organization runs an online enterprise, the SeaMATE store which sells educational remotely operated vehicle kits and parts to competition participants and others. The store fulfilled 493 orders from 344 customers.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
