Mission

To protect and preserve the quality of life in Alachua County in cooperation with the City of Gainesville, Alachua County, State of Florida and other governmental agencies. Projects consist of the Great American Cleanup in Alachua County, litter prevention, beautification projects, recycling, etc.

  • In 2023, Keep Alachua County Beautiful executed the following programs: recruiting volunteers for community improvement projects; providing environmental education to youths and adults; and training college students for careers in the nonprofit sector, especially promoting sustainability. The community improvement programs included: the Great American cleanup; community gardens; "Beautiful Block" projects to promote neighborhood self-sufficiency; Community Outreach to educate residents and businesses about litter prevention and recycling; and beautification projects including the planting of trees and pollinator plants, the removal of graffiti and invasive plants and landscaping. Under the Great American Cleanup, a Keep America Beautiful trademarked program for litter cleanup and eradication of blight, KACB hosted 391 events engaging 2,659 volunteers who picked up 40,667 pounds of trash and recyclable materials. An average of five interns each semester received 5 to 10 hours of training each week in finance, communications, data management, environmental education, event management, and community organizing knowledge and skills.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
