Mission
Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children exists to show and share the love of Christ to children and their families.
Activities or mission (Part I)
OBHC exists to show and share the love of Christ to children and their families. We do this through our four residential campuses, eight pregnancy centers, and Foster Care Ministries. During 2024, 116 individuals professed faith in Christ through the ministries of OBHC.
-
Child-Focused and Family-Focused Care: Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OBHC) is the largest provider of private not-for-profit, residential childcare in the state, placing children in a safe Christian environment. In Child-Focused Care, up to eight children are placed in a cottage-style home under the supervision of a houseparent couple. From meals and bible studies to campus programs and education, staff members strive to help shape children into caring, capable adults. College and Career programs are available to them after high school graduation as they continue their education. During 2024, OBHC served 122 children through its child-focused care ministry, while another 22 lived in the College and Career program. 10 children accepted Christ as their Savior during 2024. Family-Focused Care is a ministry developed to help single mothers and their children, who may have limited or no support. The goal is to help these families become productive and more self-sufficient by providing a stable and nurturing place to live while equipping, assisting, and teaching important skills. Areas include parenting skills, career development, spiritual development, church involvement, relational needs, money management, and education. During 2024, 39 mothers and 64 children were served and 10 accepted Christ.

Foster Care Ministries is an initiative with three primary goals. The first is to assist churches in the development or enhancement of foster care ministry that encourages, supports and ministers to resource families within their church and community. Secondly, it connects families interested in becoming foster parents with licensed child-placing agencies throughout Oklahoma. It also provides opportunities for ongoing training. During 2024, 47 referrals were sent by Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children to foster/adoptive agencies, 67 churches were engaged in discussions regarding foster care ministries, and 1,536 total training hours were provided, serving 160 adults and 84 children. 2 individuals accepted Christ as their savior through this ministry during 2024.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a
- The President is reimbursed by Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OBHC) for reasonable travel costs incurred by his spouse while accompanying him on business trips. The spouse's accompaniment helps ensure the reputation of OBHC and its ministry leader as well as reflects the spouse's role as an ambassador for OBHC. As an ordained minister of the Gospel, the President receives an annual minister's housing allowance that is appropriately treated as a non-taxable benefit and is included in Form 990, Part VII, Column F and in Form 990, Schedule J, Part II, Column D.
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 3
- The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees conducts an annual performance review of the President and establishes the President's compensation.
Part I's answers as filed. A line not listed was left unanswered; on lines 1a and 3 that means the box was not checked.
