Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

It is the mission of APIAVote to encourage and promote civic participation of Asian Pacific Islander Americans in the electoral and public processes at the national, state, and local levels. APIAVote also aims to educate and inform Asian and Pacific Islander American citizens in the United States, on a nonpartisan basis, to register and exercise their right to vote in federal, state, and local elections for public offices and to participate in the political process.

  • National Field Program - APIAVote's National Field program empowers grassroots organizations and young AAPIs to become dynamic, sustainable and effective organizers who embed a culture of civic engagement and build local power. We collaborate and invest in local organizations large and small as well as young student leaders, to engage with AAPI voters directly and effectively as the trusted messengers of their campuses and local communities.

    Expenses $960,531 · Grants $591,591

  • Strategic Communications - APIAVote's Strategic Communications program aims to shift the narrative surrounding AAPIs and raise awareness of their growing impact on society. We are also an information hub for AAPI voters, especially those in underserved communities to get educated on voting by providing translated materials and inclusive content that empowers them to engage in our democratic process.

    Expenses $489,574

  • Outreach - APIAVote empowers and supports its nationwide network of partner organizations through hosting or attending conferences, events and meetings to further our mission of empowering Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities to strengthen and sustain a culture of civic engagement. This also includes meetings with potential partners to educate them on being a part of APIAVote's vast network, as well as attending community events to further our relationship building in the AAPI nonprofit space. We also worked in coalition with more than 50 nonprofits, multicultural partners, influencers, celebrities, and community leaders to host the Unity March, a national effort to build a solidarity movement following the rise in violence against Asian Americans.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
