Mission
Our mission is to protect vital areas of our natural world for the benefit of wildlife, habitats, and people by inspiring collaborative action. Our vision is a world where wildlife and people flourish in healthy ecosystems that sustain us all.
Activities or mission (Part I)
Wild Earth Allies protects vital areas of our planet for wildlife and people through local conservation action. We believe conservation rooted in local values, knowledge and practices drives lasting change. We form deep partnerships and invest locally to turn the tide of biodiversity loss globally.
-
Africa: Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC): With globally important tropical forests, DRC provides vital habitat for critically endangered wildlife such as Grauers gorillas. We partner with Primate Expertise on community-based conservation covering 150,000 acres in and around Kahuzi-Biega National Park and Idjwi Island - both globally recognized as Key Biodiversity Areas. Rwanda: The Virunga volcanoes are home to globally important biodiversity, including the endangered mountain gorilla. Building on decades of successful great ape conservation, guided by Conservation Advisor Eugene Rutagarama along with Program Manager, Joelle Rutagarama, we partner with the women-led cooperative Imbereheza Gahunga to drive grassroots engagement that benefits people and mountain gorillas. Cameroon: Dja Biosphere Reserve covers 1.3M acres of key habitat for critically endangered forest elephants, western lowland gorillas, chimpanzees and more. With partner African Conservation & Development Foundation (ACDEF) we are implementing a community-centered model to improve forest management and protect at-risk wildlife.
Expenses $2,172,075 · Grants $1,403,133
-
Southeast Asia: Cambodia: With some of the most intact forests and marine ecosystems in Southeast Asia, Cambodia is a vital refuge for threatened species such as Asian elephants, gibbons, pangolins, sea turtles and marine mammals. Led by our Director Tuy Sereivathana, we collaborate with Government and community partners to conserve more than 2.7M acres of key habitat in ways that integrate cultural values and enrich local livelihoods.
Expenses $1,468,944 · Grants $91,000
-
Americas: El Salvador: Hawksbill turtles are critically endangered globally, fewer than 700 females remain in the Eastern Pacific with 50% of these nesting in El Salvador. With partner ProCosta and a dedicated community network, we engage coastal residents and fishers to increase hawksbill nest protection, reduce turtle bycatch, and improve human well-being. Costa Rica: Together with the Latin America Sea Turtle (LAST) Association, we are protecting critical areas for sea turtles, particularly leatherbacks and hawksbills, along the Caribbean and Pacific coasts. Belize: With the largest remaining rainforest area north of the Amazon basin, Belizes tropical forests are critical for biodiversity and our global climate. Our Trees of Belize project, led by our botanist Steven Brewer, is building essential botanical skills, and creating tools for improved forest management. United States - Delaware: The Great Cypress Swamp is the largest remaining contiguous forest on the Delmarva Peninsula, providing habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife, mitigating climate change, and improving regional water quality. We work with land trust Delaware Wild Lands to restore this forested wetland with native tree species.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
