Activities or mission (Part I)

TO HARNESS THE POWER OF OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY TO DISRUPT THE CYCLE OF POVERTY FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.

  • USES provides families with a caring community where children grow up with access to quality education, individual and family advocacy, income supports, art, activity, and the outdoors. This intentional investment coupled with our breadth of resources sets them up to be lifelong learners, confident leaders, and active participants in their communities. Our programs serve children ages 0 to 13. Over the past year, we served 75 children in our Early Childhood Education classrooms, 77 children in our club48 after-school program, and 137 children at Camp Hale. Children participating in our programs showed growth in Social Emotional Learning, exceeded age-appropriate milestones in cognitive and physical development, showed growth in STEAM based skill areas, demonstrated kindergarten readiness, and improved literacy and numeracy through standard assessments.

    Expenses $3,198,339 · Grants $2,000 · Revenue $929,650

  • Through our whole family approach, USES was able to serve 541 families throughout the year. Coaching connected participants to vital resources- financial support, health and educational resources for children, and career and educational opportunities for adults. In order to empower families directly, we offered 16 families our groundbreaking Striving Toward Economic Prosperity (STEP) program, a unique guaranteed income initiative that provides direct cash assistance.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
