  • Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation INAgLaw supports litigation which has the potential to establish legal precedent and clarity on matters of concern to the agricultural community in Indiana. INAgLaw seeks to further the understanding of agricultural legal issues within the agricultural community, the public, and the judicial branch of government. This past year saw the culmination of multiple cases supported by INAgLaw. One case involved the clarification of Indiana law regarding the amount discretion allowed to a state agency under the Grain Buyers and Licensing statute. An additional issue in the case was the determination of a failure date under the statute. Another case involved the type of notice a county must provide to interested landowners when modifying their zoning ordinance. Both of these cases were resolved under Indiana law. Also, the Foundation is involved in a case to determine whether a life estate tenant can bind property pursuant to a contract that survives after the tenants death. Each of these cases were important to Indiana farmers and landowners.

    Expenses $15,670

  • INAgLaw creates and supports educational programs that address legal issues facing farmers. Estate and succession planning impacts every farm in the state of Indiana. INAgLaw recognizes the significant role the Foundation can play in educating farmers in this area. In July 2024, INAgLaw held the eleventh installment of its annual series Estate and Succession Planning for the Family Farm. This virtual program offered CLE credits to attending attorneys. Also, INAgLaw held its first workshop on family farm succession. Seven multi generation Indiana farm families attended an in-person event facilitated by an industry expert and left with a formalized plan to assist in the succession of their farm. INAgLaw coordinated the third installment of the Agricultural Planning and Zoning School and updated the Agricultural Zoning Guide which is generally available to Indiana agricultural stakeholders. INAgLaw coordinated the first annual Agricultural Contracting program highlighting the different types of contracts and their role in production agriculture. INAgLaw sponsored the American Agricu

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
