Mission and programs · 2025
Primary exempt purpose
To promote native plant conservation and healthy ecosystems by maintaining a public green space and educational botanical garden. Our vision is to showcase the largest collection of horticulturally available native species from the Blue Ridge ecoregion, inspire people to plant native species in their own landscapes, and offer a place where our community can enjoy outdoor events. Daniel Boone Native Gardens is a nonprofit organization that relies on the contributions of generous community members.
-
Co-hosted our annual plant sale in May and June in partnership with local and regional Native Plant Societies. The sales provided over 100 buyers with affordable access to native flora, successfully introducing hundreds of native plants into NC home gardens to support local wildlife and pollinators.
Expenses $11,410
-
Hosted our annual, free Summer Concert Series in the garden, welcoming over 400 people throughout the summer from our community as well as from other areas of North Carolina and more. The program pared cultural arts with environmental awareness, providing equitable public access to the gardens while educating attendees on North Carolina's native ecosystems.
Expenses $4,596
-
Conducted our annual Fairy Day family festival, drawing over 800 children and adults to the garden. The event utilized nature-based crafts, youth entertainment, and guided activities to engage families in outdoor environmental education and foster early-childhood connectivity with local conservation efforts.
Expenses $392
