Mission and programs · 2024

Mission

Front Door Communities supports and serves homeless and at-risk men and women in downtown San Jose. Our current programs include a lunch bag distribution and a womens drop-in center. We also partner with community organizations to provide food, showers, haircuts, healthcare and other necessities.

  • Lifted Spirits operates two days a week. The program serves at least 60 women per month, with a daily capacity of about 40. We continue to provide essential services for the well-being of fragile unhouse women in downtown San Jose. We provide a place for unhoused women to be safe, spend time in a nurturing environment, and have many of their tangible and intangible needs met.

    Expenses $42,798

  • Lunch bags are distributed at the front door (clients do not enter the building) three mornings a week from 9:30 to 11. 30-40 people per day Fresh fruits and other snacks are also served when available from the food bank. We serve over 300 meals to 100 people over a 1 month period The lunch bag program is not the only place where men and women can obtain food, but at Front Door Communities, the homeless and low-income folks of our community are served with compassion and hope. Clients are greeted with a hearty good morning and with a first name when possible.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
