Mission
To solve family homelessness, one family, one community at a time.
-
In 2023, Solutions for Change continued delivering its award-winning, comprehensive, and dependency-free solution to family homelessness. Through our two-year transformational vocational recovery residential initiative the Solutions Academy we provided 54,896 bed-nights of safe, secure, and sober housing to more than 150 parents and their children. Above all, we upheld our 100% drug-free promise to the vulnerable homeless families we serve, many of whom have endured profound trauma and loss. Our innovative internship and apprenticeship workforce development programs created sustainable pathways out of dependency and publicly funded welfare programs for 57 Academy students. This initiative resulted in a remarkable 820% return on investment for every $1 invested in a parent enrolled in the Solutions Academy, taxpayers saved $8.20. Notably, these outcomes were achieved without any government funding, as the states mandated Housing First model remains fundamentally incompatible with our anti-dependency, empowerment-based approach.Staying true to our core values and our 100% drug-free standard required us to make difficult but principled decisions. In 2023, we voluntarily exited several government-funded programs, returning them to the state. The financial and operational impact of these choices while necessary are reflected in this Form 990 and our accompanying audit. Nonetheless, our commitment remains unwavering: to solve family homelessness permanently one family, one community at a time.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
