To empower Afghans in the Portland Metro through advocacy, services, and resources.

  • The Community Assistance Program is one of our primary initiatives, dedicated to providing direct resources to individuals in need within the Afghan community. In 2022, we successfully served 290 clients. This program primarily focused on delivering immediate and essential support, including phones, food boxes, emergency financial assistance, and cultural items. Additionally, we provided crucial funeral support, addressing both the material and emotional needs of those we serve. Our efforts in this program are characterized by a direct, hands-on approach to ensure the well-being and stabilization of community members facing various challenges. The total expenses and revenue for this program encapsulate our commitment to offering tangible, critical assistance where it is most needed.

  • Our Community Support Program plays a vital role in fostering community cohesion and addressing social isolation among the Afghan community. Throughout 2022, we organized 11 events with over 1200 attendees, creating opportunities for social interaction, cultural celebration, and community building. These events are not only social gatherings but also platforms for disseminating vital information on topics like American culture, resource access, mental health support, and immigration. The program aims to strengthen communal ties, enhance cultural understanding, and provide educational resources. It underscores our organization's holistic approach to community support, going beyond immediate needs to foster a sense of belonging and collective growth. The total expenses for this program reflect our investment in nurturing a resilient and informed community.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
