Mission and programs · 2022

Mission

Aggregating the wisdom of community mediation and amplifying the voice of community mediators. NACFM's purpose, as a membership association of peacemakers who employ the practices and values of community mediation, is to help these peacemakers to create safe spaces for the transformation of conflict to opportunities for engagement, reolution and partnership through the work and will of the participants and those impacted.

  • NAFCM has been providing learning communities as part of the JAMS/NACFM mini-grant program and has grant tracks for law enforcement, veterans/military personnel and their families, and navigating cultural differences grantees. The learning communities will: provide leadership in the development of materials that can be shared and replicated by other community mediation centers in the U.S.; provide leadership in the development of other materials, including at least one webinar, to be presented; and leverage and focus resources and expertise to maximize the impact of selected pilots and enhancements throughout the U.S. and for the benefit of the community mediation field. NACFM is a membership-based organization of over 40 volunteers, focused on serving community mediation programs, staffs, and volunteers, and they also engage in public education efforts to increase awareness, accessibility, and utilization of constructive conflict engagement skills and low-cost third-party services.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
