Mission
KENTUCKY HUNTERS FOR THE HUNGRY, INC (KHFH) IS A 501(C)(3) CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION, MANAGED BY VOLUNTEERS, AND DEDICATED TO THE MISSION OF FEEDING THE NEEDY THROUGHOUT THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY. WE ARE A STATEWIDE HUNGER RELIEF ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROVIDING A HEALTHY
Activities or mission (Part I)
RESPONSIBLE FOR PROCESSING APPROXIMATELY 2,316 DEER WHICH HUNTERS DONATE TO CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FEEDING THE HUNGRY AND MALNOURISHED IN THE STATE OF KENTUCKY.
-
OUR KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2022 TOWARDS OUR MISSION CAN BEST BE DESCRIBED IN THREE AREAS. THE FIRST AND PRIMARY MEANS IS BY THE DISTRIBUTION OF GROUND VENISON THROUGH FOOD PANTRIES LOCATED AROUND OUR COMMONWEALTH. IN 2022, KHFH PROCESSED 2,316 DEER (AN INCREASE OF 21% OVER PRIOR YEAR), GENERATING OVER 94,000 POUNDS OF GROUND VENISON (AN INCREASE OF 28%), AND PROVIDING AN ESTIMATED 376,000 SERVINGS OF NUTRITIOUS PROTEIN. IN TOTAL, OVER 68 DIFFERENT SHELTERS AND FOOD PANTRIES RECEIVED DONATIONS FROM KHFH IN 2022.
Expenses $227,571
-
A SECOND AREA IN SUPPORT OF OUR MISSION IS DISASTER RELIEF. ON JULY 27, 2022, A DEVASTATING FLOOD SWEPT THROUGH FOURTEEN COUNTIES IN EASTERN KENTUCKY, RESULTING IN THE DEATH OF FORTY-FIVE PEOPLE AND THE DISPLACEMENT OF THOUSANDS MORE. KHFH WAS QUICK TO ACT. ON AUGUST 11, 2022 KHFH DELIVERED FOOD AND SUPPLIES TO THE AREA AND LEFT OUR FREEZER TRAILER BEHIND TO BE USED FOR EMERGENCY COLD STORAGE. ON AUGUST 31, 2022 ANOTHER TRAILER LOAD OF MEAT WAS DELIVERED TO HAZARD KENTUCKY, AND ON FEBRUARY 13, 2023 A THIRD LOAD OF FOOD WAS DELIVERED. MORE THAN NINE MONTHS AFTER THIS DEVASTATING FLOOD, THE AFFECTED COMMUNITIES REMAIN ON A LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY. WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THESE AREAS AS PART OF OUR MISSION.
-
THE THIRD AREA IN WHICH WE SUPPORT OUR PRIMARY MISSION IS OUR NEWLY LAUNCHED VENISON MEAT STICK PROGRAM. MANY SCHOOL SYSTEMS THROUGHOUT OUR COMMONWEALTH RECOGNIZE THAT NOT ALL CHILDREN ARE RECEIVING THE NUTRITION NEEDED, AND PROGRAMS ARE IN PLACE TO FEED THOSE STUDENTS DURING THE SCHOOL WEEK. TO SUPPLEMENT THIS EFFORT, OTHER ORGANIZATIONS HAVE DEVELOPED TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH BACKPACKS OR BAGS OF FOOD, AT THE END OF EACH WEEK, TO ASSIST THEM THROUGH THE WEEKENDS. PROVIDING NUTRITIOUS PROTEIN OVER THE WEEKEND WAS A CHALLENGE, SO KHFH WAS APPROACHED AND ASKED IF WE COULD ASSIST. IN OUR FISCAL YEAR 2022, KHFH LAUNCHED TWO PILOT VENISON MEAT STICK PROGRAMS. A VENISON MEAT STICK IS A PREPARED PACKAGE OF VENISON COMPRISED A TWO MEAT STICKS PER PACKAGE. MUCH LIKE THE MEAT STICKS YOU FIND IN YOUR AREA GROCERIES OR CONVENIENT STORES, THESE MEAT STICKS ARE READY-TO-EAT WHEN YOU OPEN THE PACKAGE. THE TWO PILOT PROGRAMS WERE LOCATED WITHIN THE PERRY COUNTY SCHOOLS AND PULASKI COUNTY SCHOOLS. THE PERRY COUNTY MEAT STICK DISTRIBUTION WAS HANDLED THROUGH THE BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK PROGRAM AND WILL DELIVER APPROXIMATELY 30,000 PACKAGES OF MEAT STICKS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. THE PULASKI COUNTY PROGRAM WAS MANAGED THROUGH PROJECT 58:10 AND WILL DISTRIBUTE APPROXIMATELY 15,000 PACKAGES. KENTUCKY HUNTERS FOR THE HUNGRY IS PROUD OF THE SERVICE WE PROVIDE TO OUR COMMONWEALTH AND THANK THOSE HUNTERS, PROCESSORS, AND DONORS WHO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR MISSION.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
