Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)
- PART I, LINE 1A
- TRAVEL FOR COMPANIONS: SPOUSES OF LISTED PERSONS OCCASIONALLY TRAVEL ON BUSINESS TRIPS WHERE THERE IS A UNIVERSITY INTEREST IN THEIR PARTICIPATION IN UNIVERSITY ACTIVITIES. WHERE A BONA FIDE PURPOSE IS ABSENT, THE TRAVEL COSTS ARE REPORTED AS TAXABLE COMPENSATION. TAX INDEMNIFICATION AND GROSS-UP PAYMENTS: ON OCCASION THE PRESIDENT IS REIMBURSED FOR HOUSE-CLEANING SERVICES IN CONJUNCTION WITH UNIVERSITY EVENTS HELD IN HIS PERSONAL RESIDENCE WHEN THE PRESIDENT AND HIS WIFE ARE ON UNIVERSITY BUSINESS. THIS REIMBURSEMENT IS TREATED AS TAXABLE COMPENSATION TO THE PRESIDENT AND APPEARS ON THE PRESIDENT'S W-2. THE AMOUNTS PAID ARE GROSSED UP TO PROVIDE FOR TAXES INCURRED ON THESE PAYMENTS. HOUSING ALLOWANCE OR RESIDENCE FOR PERSONAL USE: PER DIRECTION FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH IRC SECTION 107, THE UNIVERSITY DESIGNATED A PORTION OF THE PRESIDENT'S COMPENSATION AS A HOUSING ALLOWANCE. IT IS INCLUDED IN HIS TAXABLE INCOME. IN BIOLA'S INTERPRETATION OF IRC SECTION 107, THE UNIVERSITY WILL ASSIST EMPLOYEES WHO ARE BOTH ORDAINED MINISTERS AND IN BIBLICAL STUDIES OR PASTORAL POSITIONS, IN CLAIMING THE MINISTERIAL HOUSING ALLOWANCE. THE EMPLOYEE, ALONE, BEARS THE RISK OF THE MINISTERIAL HOUSING ALLOWANCE BEING DISALLOWED, AND FOR THE PAYMENT OF ANY ASSOCIATED PENALTIES SHOULD THERE BE ANY ADVERSE FUTURE RULING BY THE IRS OR THE CALIFORNIA FRANCHISE TAX BOARD. ALL OTHER EMPLOYEES, EVEN IF AN ORDAINED MINISTER, WILL NOT BE GIVEN THE APPROPRIATE RESOLUTION NEEDED FOR FILING THE MINISTERIAL HOUSING ALLOWANCE. PERSONAL SERVICES: ON OCCASION, THE PRESIDENT IS REIMBURSED FOR EXPENSES, WHEN THE PRESIDENT AND HIS WIFE ARE ON UNIVERSITY BUSINESS. THE PERSONAL SERVICES INCLUDE ANYTHING NEEDED TO ATTEND MEETINGS, GATHERINGS, OR CONFERENCES. THIS REIMBURSEMENT IS TREATED AS TAXABLE COMPENSATION TO THE PRESIDENT AND APPEARS ON THE PRESIDENT'S W-2. THE AMOUNTS PAID ARE GROSSED UP TO PROVIDE FOR TAXES INCURRED ON THESE PAYMENTS.
