APLD HAS ENGAGED WITH PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND PARTICIPATED IN ACADEMIC, PUBLIC HEALTH, AND WATER INDUSTRY CONFERENCES AND MEETINGS RELATED TO THE DISEASE. AS PART OF THESE EFFORTS, APLD HAS CONTRIBUTED TESTIMONIALS AND PRESENTATIONS TO VARIOUS BODIES INCLUDING PUBLIC AGENCIES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH CARE, AND WATER QUALITY, STATE LEGISLATORS AND STAFF, WATER SYSTEM AUTHORITIES AND ADMINISTRATORS, STATE EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP AND ADVISORS, OPEN HEARINGS ON WATER QUALITY AND PATHOGENS, FACILITY OWNERS AND OPERATORS, HOSPITALS AND SENIOR LIVING FACILITY OPERATORS, AND OTHERS.IN 2022, APLD PRIORITIZED RAISING AWARENESS OF THE FACT THAT 96% OF ALL LEGIONNAIRES' CASES ARE DEFINED AS "INDIVIDUAL AND SPORADIC" (UNASSOCIATED WITH OUTBREAKS), FINDING ROOT CAUSE LEGISLATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR WATER QUALITY MANAGEMENT, AND EXPANDING APLD'S BANDWITH BY WORKING TOWARDS HIRING A DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR. APLD PURSUED POLICIES IN VARIOUS STATES INCLUDING NEW JERSEY, MARYLAND, ILLINOIS AND PENNSYLVANIA THAT PRIORITIZE UPSTREAM WATER MANAGEMENT AS A PRIMARY LINE OF DEFENSE AGAINST LEGIONELLA. THE COMPANY ALSO SUCCESSFULLY OPPOSED SB1144 IN CALIFORNIA, A POLICY WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN INEFFECTIVELY NARROW IF PASSED. THE POLICY WAS VETOED BY GOVERNOR NEWSOM ON SEPTEMBER 30TH.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
