  • DIRECTED GRANTS TO CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS THAT SUPPORT CHILDREN, FAMILIES, THE ELDERLY, EDUCATION AND VUNERABLE INDIVIDUALS IN ORDER TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.FLORIDA MEDICAL CLINIC ORLANDO HEALTH (FMCOH) IS NOT ONLY A MAJOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER IN MULTIPLE COUNTIES, BUT ALSO SETS A VERY VISIBLE EXAMPLE OF PHILANTHROPIC LEADERSHIP. HELPING PATIENTS IS ONLY A PART OF HOW FMCOH SERVES OUR COMMUNITY, AFTER ALL, WHO BETTER SEES THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY THAN THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR HEALTHCARE?SINCE 2005 THE PHILANTHROPIC ARM OF FMCOH, THE FOUNDATION OF CARING HAS MADE A VAST IMPACT BY SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS, CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN NEED AND AT-RISK."WE ARE DEDICATED TO GIVING BACK. THIS FOUNDATION WAS CREATED TO INITIATE CONTINUED INVOLVEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY AND TO GENUINELY MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S LIVES." - JOE DELATORRE, FLORIDA MEDICAL CLINIC ORLANDO HEALTH CEOTHE FOUNDATION OF CARING (FOC) IS UNIQUE IN THAT WE DO NOT USE DONATED FUNDS TO SUPPORT OR ENHANCE FMCOH ACTIVITIES. INSTEAD, FOC STRATEGICALLY REINVESTS LOCALLY THROUGH QUALIFIED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO LEVERAGE RESOURCES, ENRICH LIVES AND CREATE MEASURABLE, IMMEDIATE AND ONGOING POSITIVE TRANSFORMATIONS FOR THOSE LESS FORTUNATE. AS CATALYST FOR CHANGE THROUGH A VARIETY OF WORTHWHILE COMMUNITY PROJECTS, FOC COLLECTIVELY POOLS OUR RESOURCES TO MAKE THE GREATEST IMPACT TO THE AREAS WITH THE GREATEST NEEDS.THE FOUNDATION OF CARING IS UNIQUELY POSITIONED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE; AS PART OF THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND AS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT FOUNDATION WHO FUNDS VARIOUS CHARITABLE PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS. WE HAVE WORKED DILIGENTLY TO BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF LOCAL CHARITIES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE HOPE, OPPORTUNITIES AND SOLUTIONS TO THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST. BY SUPPORTING AN ARRAY OF CAUSES, WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT DIVERSITY IS THE CORNERSTONE OF A VIBRANT COMMUNITY. TO DATE, FOC HAS PROVIDED OVER $4.1 MILLION IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND OVER 96,000 VOLUNTEER HOURS TO 196 NONPROFITS IN PASCO AND HILLSBOROUGH COUNTIES."WE HAVE BUILT THIS FOUNDATION AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO REACH BEYOND OUR WALLS TO THE PEOPLE AND THE FAMILIES THAT LIVE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS." - SHERI SCHWAB, FOUNDATION OF CARING FOUNDERFOC ENGAGES PROVIDERS, EMPLOYEES, ADMINISTRATORS, FRIENDS AND BUSINESS ASSOCIATES TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM, IN-KIND DONATIONS AND PARTICIPATION IN TEAM FMCOH EVENTS, THE FOUNDATION INCREASES THE VISIBILITY OF OUR MISSION AND THE CLINIC AS A WHOLE.THE COMMUNITY IMPACT OF THE FOUNDATION OF CARING IS DELIVERED IN A FEW WAYS. FIRST, WE OFFER GRANT OPPORTUNITIES TO NONPROFITS NEEDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. FOC BOARD MEMBERS RESEARCH EACH PROPOSAL, VET EACH APPLICANT AND DETERMINE THE NEEDS OF THE CONSTITUENTS. GRANTS ARE AWARDED ANNUALLY, IN DECEMBER. THROUGH OUR ANNUAL COMPETITIVE GRANT PROCESS, WE HAVE FED HUNGRY FAMILIES, FUNDED PROGRAMS FOR AT RISK CHILDREN, UNDERWRITTEN COSTS OF ACCESSIBILITY UPGRADES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND PROVIDED SAFE HAVENS FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN ABUSED.FOC ALSO OFFERS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES TO PROVIDERS, EMPLOYEES AND ADMINISTRATORS. WHEN A VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IS IDENTIFIED, INTERESTED EMPLOYEES, BUSINESS ASSOCIATES, FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS GATHER TOGETHER TO MEET THE IDENTIFIED HARDSHIP. THIS CAN BE "HANDS ON" WORK AT A LOCAL COMMUNITY AGENCY, BOOSTING ATTENDANCE AT AN EVENT AS TEAM FMCOH, OR RAISING AWARENESS AND MONEY TO MEET A SPECIFIC NEED.IN 2016, THE FOUNDATION OF CARING WAS AWARDED THE PHILANTHROPIC SERVICE CLUB OF THE YEAR AT THE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL FUNDRAISERS, NATURE COAST CHAPTER'S NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
