Primary exempt purpose

The Society of SVDP, Blessed Junipero Serra Conference is a Catholic organization open to those who wish to grow in their faith by serving God and their neighbor and dedicated to serving the less fortunate in our community. Emergency aid in the form of rental assistance, food, short-term motel stays, utility payments, clothing, and transportation are some of the services we provide to the homeless and working poor. The largest aid expense is emergency rent payments, predominantly for the working poor, to stabilize families by keeping them in their home. A large many of these families are frequently only a paycheck away from financial distress should they encounter an illness, car breakdown, reduction in work hours or loss of job. The homeless need an occasional motel stay to address hygiene, prepare for a job interview, or seek shelter in extreme climate conditions.

  • Our Vincentian volunteers visit the homes of those in need or conduct face to face visits with the homeless to access and determine the way in which we can best help these people. Additionally, our visitors extend person-to-person care in a discreet, respectful way within hours by providing the emergency aid needed and educating them about community or government services that can empower them to become self sufficient. During this tax year, we had 26 Vincentian volunteers that made 764 visits which resulted in assisting 1172 individuals.
