Activities or mission (Part I)

TO PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF BUSINESS DISTRICTS, NEIGHBORHOODS AND OTHER AFFECTED COMMUNITIES IN AND AROUND SPOKANE, WASHINGTON.

  • MEMBER SERVICES: SBA PROVIDED MEMBERS WITH MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE DIRECTLY WITH ISSUES AFFECTING SPOKANE'S BUSINESS CLIMATE AND QUALITY OF LIFE. THROUGH 100 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF 5:00 A.M. WALKS THROUGH DOWNTOWN SPOKANE, SBA BROUGHT BUSINESS LEADERS, RESIDENTS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS TOGETHER TO OBSERVE DOWNTOWN CONDITIONS FIRSTHAND AND ENGAGE IN DISCUSSIONS REGARDING PUBLIC SAFETY AND ECONOMIC VITALITY. SBA ALSO HOSTED REGULAR FOCUS COUNCILS WITH NEIGHBORHOODS, DEVELOPERS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, CITY AND COUNTY OFFICIALS, AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION, AND LOCAL PROCESSES AFFECTING MEMBERS AND THE BROADER BUSINESS COMMUNITY. THESE ACTIVITIES INCREASED MEMBER ENGAGEMENT, FACILITATED STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION, AND STRENGTHENED RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

  • ADVOCACY: SBA ADVOCATED FOR POLICIES THAT PROMOTE SAFE AND ACCESSIBLE PUBLIC SPACES, PUBLIC ORDER, AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN SPOKANE. SBA HELPED SHAPE SPOKANE'S SAFE AND ACCESSIBLE SPACES ORDINANCE, WHICH WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED BY THE SPOKANE CITY COUNCIL ON OCTOBER 27, 2025, RESTORING SAFE PUBLIC SPACES WHILE CONNECTING PEOPLE TO SERVICES. SBA ALSO ELEVATED THE COMMUNITY'S PROPOSITION 1 VOTE INTO A BROADER DISCUSSION REGARDING ENFORCEMENT, PUBLIC ORDER, AND ACCOUNTABILITY TO VOTER DIRECTION, WHILE SUPPORTING UPDATED CAMPING, OBSTRUCTION, AND ENFORCEMENT POLICIES THAT PAIR ACCOUNTABILITY WITH SERVICE CONNECTION. AS A RESULT, MULTIPLE POLICY CHANGES AND ENFORCEMENT MEASURES WERE ADVANCED DURING THE YEAR, CONTRIBUTING TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW PUBLIC-SPACE MANAGEMENT POLICIES THROUGHOUT SPOKANE.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
