Mission

To educate and develop students whose intellect, moral character and Jewish identity provide a lifelong foundation for personal growth, commitment to the Jewish people and Tikkun Olam--improving the world in which we live.

Activities or mission (Part I)

The Emery/Weiner School is an independent, college-preparatory, co-ed day school for grades 6-12.

  • The Emery/Weiner Center for Jewish Education (the School) is an independent, college-preparatory, co-educational day school for students in grades 6-12, accredited by ISAS and SACS. In response to the success of the I. Weiner Middle School, which has served students since 1978, and to fill a gap in the spectrum of local independent high schools, Emery High School opened in 2001 with 31 students. In accordance with our mission, we accept a broad range of students, ranging from the 40th to the 99th percentile in standardized admission testing. Continued on Schedule O.Moreover, we offer a dual-studies curriculum that requires all students to demonstrate proficiency in Hebrew, notwithstanding study of another foreign language, and requires students to take Judaic Studies classes. Emery/Weiner is a pluralistic and progressive community day school that emphasizes commitment rather than commandment. The result is a learning partnership in which students feel a sense of ownership and, more importantly, become graduates instilled with moral self-reliance. Enrollment for FYE 2025 was approximately 630 students in grades 6-12.

    Expenses $21,318,371 · Grants $1,732,038 · Revenue $20,939,913

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
