Mission and programs · 2024
Mission
A place where children and adult relationships highlight the importance of achieving increasing levels of academic, behavior and social skills for personal success. Our goal is to expose children living with limited resources to the many cultural and educational opportunities available in our community. All children deserve "the best" regardless of their family's income and the zip code where they live.
Activities or mission (Part I)
Provide a neighborhood learning center to serve children and families in high poverty Title I school zones to improve academic, behavior and social skills.
-
Beyond Our Walls (BOWs) is a Neighborhood Learning and Activity Center located in North Charleston, South Carolina. School-aged children in Pre-K through 6th grade from area schools are offered healthy meals, academic, behavior, and social activities. Parents are offered peace of mind and support at no cost. When school is out, BOWs is in. We equip students with technology and resources to support school work and literacy. We equip parents with consultation and materials to address the progress of their children in school. Continued on Schedule O.Our FAB 5 Programs Joint Literacy Programs - Our after-school program guides children through foundational learning with reading and mathematics reinforcement lessons. Schools Out When schools are closed for holidaysand breaks, BOWs stands in the gap. We continue in-person learning while adding fun to the kid's day. Scholar Family BOWs partners not only with children but with parents on the move who seek support to further their education or training for new employment opportunities. Summer Camp School eventually ends for the summer, but BOWs stays open with fun, learning, and life skills in and outdoors. Virtual HUB Sometimes in-person learning isn'tan option. That's when BOWs steps in with virtual learning at our learning center.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
