Mission and programs · 2024
Primary exempt purpose
Education about elimination of prejudice towards LGBT individuals through the positive enjoyment of sport.
-
The organization coordinates and administers a flag football league embracing players of all genders, races, sexual orientations, teaches athletic skills, and organizes opportunities to promote team sports free from prejudice or bias. The league has over 350 participants and over 20 referees. The league also reaches several hundred more people through our allies and partnerships within the community.
-
The league participates in the Boston Pride Parade to raise its visibility among the LGBT, underserved, and heterosexual communities. The parade attracts approximately 12,000 marchers and 800,000 spectators. However, due to COVID, these activities were canceled in 2021. Instead, we focused our attention on fundraisers helping out our sponsors. In the Fall of 2021 we coordinated a drive for Hope and Comfort that collected toiletries for under-served communities.
-
The organization coordinates volunteer activities with the Boston Living Center, Community Servings, the Boston Alliance for Gay & Lesbian Youth, Camp Lightbulb, Youth Field Day through the MA High School GSAs, and other important local community organizations. We awarded two, $5,000 MEL Scholarships in 2022.
