Assists Medically Needy

ReCARES collects new and lightly used medical equipment and supplies and redistributes them to those in need. In 2022 ReCARES collected over 25,000 items of no longer needed home health supplies and equipment from 4328 donors, and redistributed those items to 6563 people in need.

Other Program Service Accomplishments: ReCARES provides donated medical equipment and supplies to thousands of people in need; seniors and people with disabilities. This donated equipment allows recipients to participate more actively in their communities fostering better physical and mental health. This year we collected and distributed over 25,000 medical items, effectively diverting them from the waste stream and gave them to people in need in our community. This effort provides a safety net for people who have been unable to get walkers, wheelchairs, commodes, wound care supplies, adult diapers, bed pads, etc., helping them stay in their homes and out of hospitals. As ReCARES has been providing this service for more than 25 years, the network has grown; through collaborative efforts ReCARES supplies other agencies with needed items and referrals, raising awareness, making connections and building a community of like-minded organizations through caregivers and those they serve. This is increasingly necessary as the need grows due to rising healthcare costs.
