12 Baskets Caf expanded to provide lunch and groceries 4 days each week, not missing a day in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Helene. The Caf served over 33,000 meals and rescued approximately 120,000 pounds of food. We serve all who come at no charge, serving donated/rescued food provided by local restaurants, food services, grocery stores, and farms.
Expenses $275,721 · Grants $1,836 · Revenue $4,625

APIs Realities of Poverty Education Programs include group discussions, panels, and tours of places in downtown Asheville that a homeless person might visit in a day. This program provided 55 activities to 543 participants in 2024. Groups can include schools, colleges, churches, civic groups, or interested individuals. The programs are led by our Poverty Educators, giving voice and leadership opportunities to people with life experiences of poverty to educate others as to the causes and challenges of poverty.
-
12 Baskets Caf also provides meeting space for community groups outside of food serving hours. Affinity groups include people creating art and music, sharing creative writings, playing chess, sharing community information, and discussing important local topics.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
