Mission
Backpack Meals for Kids has provided food for children attending Bellevue School District schools food for the weekend. These children live in families who live with food insecurity. That means they do not consistently have adequate nutritious meals, especially on the weekend.
-
From July 2024 until January 2025, we served an average of 830 children each week with a bag of food to go home for the weekend. We decided to close our operation because transferring our operation to Backpack Brigade, we would have more efficiency with a larger organization and more volunteers. All donors and supporters were invited to a gathering on August 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm to highlight our accomplishments, discuss the ongoing need for food among children in our community, and introduce Nichelle Hilton, CEO of Backpack Brigade. This was well attended and an enjoyable event marking this transition.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
