Mission

THE MOUNT VERNON LIBRARY FOUNDATION'S PRINCIPAL MISSION IS TO FOSTER COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR THE LIBRARY, ITS BOARD, AND ITS STAFF.

  • IN 2022, THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTED LIBRARY STAFF REQUESTS FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE BUDGET. EXAMPLES ARE: PLANTER BOXES, SUMMER READING ENCOURAGEMENT, PERODICAL SUBSCRIPTIONS, AND BOOKS GIVEN AS PRIZES. WE HIRED A BOOKKEEPER DUE TO INCREASE FUNDRAISING AND LARGER DONATIONS. IN DECEMBER THE FOUNDATION GRANTED TO THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON $254,425 FOR THE MVLC PROJECT. THIS WAS FROM FUNDS RAISED AND THE FOUNDING $250,000 CONTRIBUTION FROM LYN BISHOP DONATED FOR THIS PURPOSE.
