Mission
MAGNOLIA ROSE IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROVIDING SAFE SPACES FOR PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN, WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED (OR ARE AT RISK OF EXPERIENCING) SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND TRAFFICKING IN THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY.
Activities or mission (Part I)
MAGNOLIA ROSE IS AN ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE RECOVERY OF SURVIVORS OF TRAFFICKING, SEXUAL ABUSE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON RESCUING PEOPLE BEING TRAFFICKED IN THE SHENNANDOAH VALLEY IN COORDINATION WITH LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. WE PROVIDE A SAFE PLACE FOR RESCUED TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS TO REGAIN SOBRIETY WORKING IN COORDINATION WITH THE AUGUSTA HEALTH SYSTEM. WE PROVIDE THEM WITH WHATEVER IMMEDIATE NEEDS THEY HAVE AND ASSIST THEM IN OBTAINING AVAILABLE SOCIAL SERVICES. WE WORK TO PLACE THEM IN A SUITABLE SHELTER OR REHABILITATION PROGRAM, AND ASSIST WITH THEIR TRAVEL NEEDS. WE USE VARIOUS MEANS TO HELP ABUSE SURVIVORS TO SUCCEED IN THEIR RECOVERY PROCESS, PRIMARILY BY PROVIDING A MARKET FOR THEIR PRODUCTS AND BUSINESSES.
-
IN 2025 WE SERVED 31 TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS. WE STABILIZED THREE SURVIVORS THROUGH MEDICAL DETOXIFICATION, FACILITATED CONNECTION TO AVAILABLE SOCIAL SERVICES, AND REFERRED THEM TO REHABILITATION PROGRAMS. WE PROVIDED FOOD, NECESSITIES, REFERRALS, AND TRANSPORTATION TO SURVIVORS AS NEEDED, INCLUDING RELOCATING THREE SURVIVORS FOR THEIR SAFETY.
Expenses $14,175

WE OPERATED A STORE IN 2025 TO PROVIDE A PUBLIC FACE FOR OUR MISSION. THE STORE PAYS FOR ITSELF AND ANY EXCESS GOES TOWARD OUR RESCUE WORK. IT PROVIDES A MEANS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN VIRGINIA, AN OPPORTUNITY FOR VOLUNTEERS TO GET INVOLVED, AND FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS AND OTHER ABUSE SURVIVORS. ALMOST ALL OF THE GOODS WE SELL ARE PRODUCED BY TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS, SMALL WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES, OR COME FROM FAIR TRADE SOURCES. WE ALSO LEASE SPACE TO RECOVERING WOMEN WITH SMALL BUSINESSES TO SELL PRODUCTS THEY PRODUCE. THIS STORE IS RUN 100% BY VOLUNTEERS.
Expenses $60,035 · Revenue $44,296

IN 2024 WE PURCHASED LAND TO BUILD A SAFE HOUSE SUITABLE FOR THIS WORK. IN MAY A MANUFACTURED HOUSE WAS DONATED TO US AND WE HAVE BEEN WORKING TO SITUATE AND FIT UP THIS HOUSE ON THE PROPERTY. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE A PRIVATE LOCATION WITH APPROPRIATE FACILITIES FOR WORKING WITH TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS. IN 2025, WE PREPARED THE SITE, BUILT THE FOUNDATION, AND PLACED OUR DONATED MANUFACTURED HOUSE ON THE PROPERTY. WE STARTED THE PROCESS OF FINISHING THE CONSTRUCTION, WHICH WE HOPE WILL BE COMPLETED IN 2026. THE LOCAL COMMUNITY HAS BEEN VERY GENEROUS IN PROVIDING MATERIALS AND LABOR FOR THIS PROJECT.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
