Activities or mission (Part I)
Love Must Act builds partnerships between individuals and organizations to support education for disadvantaged students in the United States and overseas. It supports a primary school in South Africa, both financially and administratively, as well as a nursing education program in Gaza.
-
Holy Cross Primary School, Grahamstown/Makhanda, SA. We successfully applied for and managed grants in SA directly to the school in addition to the grants from Love Must Act to the school ($181,082); we included approximately 10 students with disabilities; and facilitated well over 170 medical visits. We support seven teachers and five support staff. All students receive some form of financial assistance. We had impressive English reading scores, especially since English is the first language for almost none of our students.
Expenses $144,584 · Grants $122,689

We are in partnership with the St John Eye Hospital of Jerusalem to operate an Opthalmic Nurse Specialty Training Program at the St John Eye Hospital in Gaza. The program operated in 2023, but it is undergoing significant challenges in 2024, although it began as scheduled, due to conflict.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
