Mission

TO ADDRESS THE BASIC NEEDS INSECURITY AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS TO PROMOTE COLLEGE ATTAINMENT, BY DEVELOPING AND SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE, SUSTAINABLE, AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS THAT CAN SCALE TO MEET THE WIDESPREAD DEMANDS.

Activities or mission (Part I)

TO PROVIDE COLLEGE STUDENTS STRUGGLING WITH BASIC NEEDS INSECURITY WITH RESOURCES AND SUPPORT.

  • EMERGENCY AID: SINCE OUR INCEPTION, BELIEVE IN STUDENTS HAS FOCUSED ON GETTING EMERGENCY AID IN THE HANDS OF STUDENTS TO HELP THEM MEET BASIC LIVING EXPENSES SO THEY CAN STAY IN SCHOOL AND EARN THEIR DEGREES. IN 2022, THIS INVOLVED TWO INNOVATIVE APPROACHES: FIRST, WE PARTNERED WITH EDQUITY (NOW BEAM), A TECHNOLOGY COMPANY WHO HAS DESIGNED A UNIQUE PLATFORM SPECIFICALLY BUILT TO ADMINISTER LARGE AMOUNTS OF EMERGENCY AID QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. SECOND, WE CONTINUED TO EXPAND THE WORK OF THE FAST FUND, A NETWORK OF FACULTY-LED EMERGENCY AID PROGRAMS AROUND THE COUNTRY THAT ARE LOCALLY DESIGNED IN ALIGNMENT WITH OUR CORE PRINCIPLES DESIGNED TO DELIVER FAST, STIGMA-FREE AID. IN ALL, WE SUPPORTED MORE THAN 1,500 STUDENTS DURING THE YEAR. IN ADDITION, WE BEGAN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A STUDENT FELLOWSHIP TO ALLOW IMPACTED STUDENTS TO DEVELOP ADVOCACY AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS TO AFFECT DEEPER SYSTEM CHANGES.

    Expenses $582,608

  • REALCOLLEGE: A MOVEMENT TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT WHO TODAY'S COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE AND WHY THE PREVALENCE OF BASIC NEEDS INSECURITY EXISTS TODAY. AS A LEADER OF THE REALCOLLEGE MOVEMENT, WE WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHERS ON A VARIETY OF COMMUNICATIONS, ADVOCACY, AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES TO SHARE STUDENT STORIES, IDENTIFY AND REPLICATE BEST PRACTICES, AND INFORM POLICYMAKERS OF THE ISSUES STUDENTS FACE TODAY. IN 2022, WE DEVELOPED TWO MAJOR REPORTS DOCUMENTING LEARNINGS ABOUT EMERGENCY AID DISTRIBUTION DURING THE PANDEMIC; WE ALSO WORKED ON A THIRD REPORT TO BE PUBLISHED IN 2023. IN ADDITION, WE PARTNERED WITH A RESEARCH ORGANIZATION TO DEVELOP AN ONLINE DASHBOARD TO HELP INSTITUTIONS UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS ON THEIR CAMPUS.

    Expenses $290,349

  • GATHER FOOD HALL: A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE PROGRAM CURRENTLY BEING DEVELOPED TO COMBAT FOOD INSECURITY AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS BY UTILIZING A PAY-WHAT-YOU- CAN MODEL THAT WILL PROVIDE VOUCHERS FOR STUDENTS WHO NEED EXTRA SUPPORT. WE EXPECT THE GATHER FOOD HALL TO LAUNCH IN 2023.

    Expenses $20,017

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
