Mission
WE ARE THE LARGEST AND MOST PROFICIENT NON-PROFIT HEALTH CENTER FOR CHILDREN WITH MEDICAL COMPLEXITY IN THE US OFFERING INPATIENT MEDICAL, EDUCATIONAL AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES. OUR LOVING CULTURE CREATES POSSIBILITIES FOR 169 CHILDREN TO LEAD A FULL AND HAPPY LIFE.
Activities or mission (Part I)
PROVIDE A LOVING HOME TO CHILDREN WITH COMPLEX MEDICAL NEEDS THAT INCLUDES WORLD-CLASS MEDICAL, EDUCATIONAL AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES.
-
FOUNDED BY THE SISTERS OF CHARITY IN 1987, THE ELIZABETH SETON CHILDREN'S CENTER IS A NATIONAL LEADER IN CARING FOR CHILDREN WITH MEDICAL COMPLEXITY. WE PROVIDE A FULL CONTINUUM OF CARE THAT INCLUDES MEDICAL CARE, REHABILITATION, THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES, SPECIAL EDUCATION AND A TRUE SENSE OF HOME AT THE LARGEST CENTER OF ITS KIND. THE CHILDREN WE SERVE LIVE WITH THE MOST CHALLENGING MEDICAL CONDITIONS ON EARTH. VIRTUALLY ALL ARE UNABLE TO WALK AND MANY REQUIRE FEEDING TUBES, VENTILATORS AND DEVICES TO COMMUNICATE. OUR AVERAGE LENGTH OF STAY IS FIVE YEARS, BUT MOST CHILDREN LIVE THEIR ENTIRE LIVES AT THE CENTER OR ARE DISCHARGED AT AGE 21. TODAY YOUNG ADULTS ARE AGING OUT OF OUR CARE AT HIGHER RATES THAN EVER, BUT MANY FACE INADEQUATE OPTIONS ONCE THEY LEAVE. TO SOLVE THIS CRISIS, IT IS OUR INTENTION TO BUILD THE FIRST HOME OF ITS KIND FOR YOUNG ADULTS WITH MEDICAL COMPLEXITY AND BECOME THE NATIONAL MODEL. IN 2023, THE CENTER PROVIDED 61,451 DAYS OF CARE TO 180 CHILDREN AND OUR YEAR TO DATE OCCUPANCY RATE WAS 99.6% OF OUR 169 BEDS.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
