Mission and programs · 2022

Mission

Council 2160 of the Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization that supports the activities of three Greeley area Catholic churches at the request of pastors of each church. The Knights exhibit the principles of charity, unity and fraternity in conducting activities that support the church, family and community.

Activities or mission (Part I)

THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS IS A FRATERNAL SERVICE ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN THE GREELEY AREA THROUGH CHURCH AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES.

  • The Council supports three parishes in the Greeley area by supplying food and manpower for annual fund-raising events during each parish's festival. The parishes will also request physical and financial support for specific needs. The Council takes out an ad in each parish's bulletin to help with the cost of the bulletin. One parish supports outreach to students at University of Northern Colorado. The Greeley area churches serve approximately 5,200 families. The funds raised help each parish's mission in providing for the religious and social needs of their members.

  • The Council sponsors a Lenten fish fry event at two parishes. The purpose is to provide a meal to parishioners for fellowship and to raise funds for school support or parish needs. 6 fish fries were held at one parish with 830 meals served and one held at another parish with about 150 meals served.

  • Council 2160 provides social opportunities for its members and spouses by sponsorship of activities such as the Christmas Season Dinner, the Super Bowl Party and social meetings. This helps build relationships among members and cohesion when doing service events. About 115 members participated in these.

  • Homebound Parishioners Daily Mass Books

  • Easter Egg Hunt

  • UNC Student Ministry

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
