Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

To meet the needs of individuals and families in the Brazos Valley needing basic assistance by operating 4 programs: Homeless & Housing Services, Domestic Violence Services, Youth & Family Services, and Donation and Resale Services.

  • Homeless and Housing Services - The Doug Weedon Shelter for Hope (formerly The Bridge) is a shelter to provide emergency housing for men, women and families. The Community Closet and The Community Caf (collectively Community Services) provide clothes/household items and meals, respectively to those in need in the community at no cost. The Rapid Re-Housing Program (Supportive Housing) utilizes the U.S. HUD "Housing First Model and the "Opening Doors" initiative to those experiencing homelessness. An apartment complex in Bryan and a four-plex in College Station (collectively The Haven) are managed to provide additional housing services to low-income individuals and families. Additionally, U.S. HUD funding via the HOME-ARP and ESG programs provides homeless individuals with housing, transportation, and other basic needs.

    Expenses $2,524,520 · Revenue $247,354

  • Donation & Resale Services (collectively Recycle/Resale)- Several thrift stores offer low-cost clothing, housewares, furniture, books and kitchen items to the general public. A recycle yard accepts donations of corrugated cardboard. Both the recycle yard and thrift stores provide employment opportunities for those seeking to transition from homelessness to permanent housing.

    Expenses $848,319 · Revenue $857,490

  • Domestic Violence Services - Phoebes Home is a shelter for victims of domestic and dating violence.

    Expenses $835,787

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
