Mission and programs · 2024
Mission
To secure basic human needs and equal justice for every person in our state through coalition-building and advocacy.
-
Food Security Coalition (FSC): The FSC led a campaign to raise awareness of the issue of senior hunger and the need to make it easier for seniors to apply for SNAP. The coalition also built a base of support for a campaign to increase the number of school children receiving access to free meals at school. Finally, the coalition led statewide opposition to new federal restrictions on the SNAP program.
Expenses $352,508 · Grants $83,013
-
Affordable Housing Coalition (AHC): The AHC continued to advance a tenant organizing program in Southwest Missouri. The tenant union in Springfield, MO now has nearly 100 card-carrying members, and there is a leadership group of tenants in Columbia preparing to launch a new tenant union in their city.
Expenses $302,280
-
Criminal Justice Coalition (CJC): The CJC's largest accomplishment for the year was a public education campaign about Clean Slate, or automated records expungement. We built a coalition of over 50 organizations advocating for the issue, educated dozens of legislators about the collateral consequences of criminal records, and mobilized over 100 individuals to submit testimony in support of the bill.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
