Mentoring POC. This program provide youth with a mentor to guide them in several areas as needed. Mentoring has proven to be integral in the development of Black and Latinx youth in areas such as mental health, academics, and self-empowerment. Penpal POC. This program is where POCs (Psyches of Color youth) connect with system-impacted POCs to instill hope and remind them that, "We are not free until we all are." The goal is to help uplift their spirits by reminding them that others are thinking of them and they are not forgotten. Writing is an opportunity to have progressive discussions on life beyond direct system impact. This also provides the opportunity for POCs to share experiences and bring voices together to advocate for more opportunities to reform. In 2020, we began a relationship with the LA Probation Department to work with the youth in those camps. We are currently finalizing an MOU to finalize partnership. We also began a partnership with Cal Poly Pomona and Pepperdine University regarding more innovative research for piloting this program with the students at Cal Poly and in the community. We are seeking funding to secure both projects as both projects as both are being finalized. This is a program that is youth-led with program chair resources.
