Mission
Pioneer Bible Translators exists as a team to disciple Bible-less peoples, mobilizing God's people everywhere both to provide enduring access to God's Word translated into their languages and to maximize its impact to grow the Church.
Activities or mission (Part I)
Pioneer Bible provides enduring access to God's Word in the languages of Bible-less peoples.
-
Bible translation, literacy, and related mobilization and discipleship activities - Pioneer Bible Translators consists of 625 teammates worldwide ministering to 188 million people in 115 different language projects in 29 countries. During 2022, we increased the number of active language projects from 108 to 115. We drafted 53,880 verses of Scripture, exegetically checked 40,143 and published 41,490 verses for the first time. We continued building a new capacity for sign language translation worldwide. Finally, we note that in the 46 year history of Pioneer Bible, our teams have drafted about 1,001,316 verses of the Bible, the equivalent number of verses as 126 New Testaments--7 of which were drafted in 2022. We have published 5 complete Bibles and 24 New Testaments.

Recruitment--Recruiting new missionaries is key to the mission of Pioneer Bible Translators. The organization had 28 new missionary recruits, held 59 in person events. Through these events around 1,700+ people became familiar with the ministry of Pioneer Bible Translators. Around 52 of these are serious inquirers.Training - Training new and current missionaries is an integral part of Pioneer Bible's mission. In 2022, personal and professional coaching was provided to at least 156 individuals preparing for cross-cultural work. A program practicum and planning course was offered in both the fall and the spring, and weekly chapel services were conducted throughout the year. Five workshops and seminars were also provided, training over 16 people during the year. Ongoing training activities continued daily with new representatives and associates. In 2022, 36 missionaries completed training and began their first assignment.
Expenses $482,136
-
Missionary Care The organization values a culture of care to provide expatriate and national coworkers encouragement and holistic nurturing that leads to physical, spiritual, social, mental, professional, and emotional wellbeing. In 2022, the Care Department provideddozens of re-entry contacts and confidential care debriefings for coworkers in their normal rhythms of travel to and from the field. Additional Care Team services were provided through therapy and age-appropriate debriefing for teammates affected by the late stages of the Pandemic and the war in Ukraine. In addition to daily prayer activities that include a 24/7/365 initiative, the Care Team mobilized through thousands of emails, social media exchanges, and teleconferences. The Care Department led two week-long Prayer and Fasting events, 2 Parent seminars, 6 weekends to train over 50 people in care practices, two Send-off Celebrations and two Worldwide Care Team Meetings. Countless youth activities, counseling services, and trauma healing services were also provided.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
