Mission and programs · 2022

Mission

The mission of Just Neighbors Ministry, Inc. is to provide immigration legal services to low- income immigrants and refugees of all faiths and nationalities, especially those who are most vulnerable. Our team of attorneys, staff, and committed volunteers offer hope and help.

  • Just Neighbors provided immigration legal services to low-income immigrants in Virginia, Maryland and D.C. and supported immigrants through community education and advocacy. In FY 2023 Just Neighbors helped 1,333 clients with 2,054 cases. Of the total number of immigrations cases: 736 allowed immigrants to Escape Violence and be able to work (36%); 337 unified families (16%); 305 provided work authorization (15%); 58 helped clients achieve citizenship (3%); 618 advice and counsel cases (30%). 40% of the advice and counsel clients were not eligible for additional immigration benefits. These clients were given legal advice about their rights in the U.S. and warnings about paying unscrupulous providers. Just Neighbors also provided educational and advocacy opportunities to the community; staff and attorneys gave 60 immigration-based presentations reaching nearly 2,100 people, and reached an additional 1,175 people through educational tables at outreach events.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
