Mission and programs · 2023
Mission
Provide home ownership to the working poor to break the cycle of poverty and create inter-generational wealth as measured by the number of families served, delinquency rate on mortgages, and foreclosure rate on mortgages.
Activities or mission (Part I)
Seeking to put God's love into action we bring people together to build homes, communities & hope.
-
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity empowers individuals and families to build and purchase their own homes with the community's support. The affiliate serves Pinellas, West Pasco, and Hernando Counties. Volunteers and future homeowners construct the homes, which are sold and financed with a zero-interest loan. Habitat homeowner candidates earn 30 to 80 percent of the area median income. Candidates must demonstrate the need for adequate shelter; the ability to pay back a zero-interest loan, and the willingness to partner with Habitat to complete a robust homebuyer education curriculum and invest 350 to 450 "sweat equity" hours. (Continued on Schedule O). Mortgage monies are used to build even more homes, making each donation to Habitat a perpetual legacy to the community. Habitat believes that homeownership contributes to family stability, leading, in turn, to community stability. Habitat transferred 81 homes during the fiscal year.
Expenses $28,722,100 · Revenue $24,799,349
-
Habitat ReStores are home improvement outlets where new and gently used building materials and home furnishings are sold at discounted prices. The ReStore sold donated furniture and construction supplies to the general public. Proceeds were used to fund the homeownership program. This operation was discontinued in March 2024. The closure allows the affiliate to be singularly focused on the homeownership program to address the need for affordable homeownership in our community.
Expenses $2,022,993 · Revenue $802,795

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
