AS AN ADDITIONAL RESOURCE, PARENTS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN PARENT EDUCATION SESSIONS FACILITED BY DAILY DOSE OF READING THAT FOCUS ON TOPICS RELATED TO EARLY LITERACY SUCH AS VOCABULARY, DEVELOPMENT AND KINDERGARTEN READINESS. THEY CAN LEARN HOW TO READ WITH THEIR CHILDREN.TEACHERS ALSO RECEIVE EARLY LITERACY INFORMATION THROUGH THE PLAY AND LEARN PROGRAM AND HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO OBSERVE LITERACY SPECIALISTS AND INTEGRATE THE PROGRAM CURRICULUM INTO THEIR CLASSROOMS. CONNECTING THE TEACHER, PARENT AND CHILD, ALONG WITH THE LITERACY SPECIALIST CREATES A PARTNERSHIP THAT SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF LANGUAGE AND EARLY LITERACY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN YOUNG CHILDREN LIVING IN AT-RISK COMMUNITIES IN NORTHEAST OHIO.
